Want a beautiful WordPress theme but can’t code? If you obsess over those beautiful WordPress themes, but can’t ever seem to tweak them just right for your brand, I feel you. A gorgeous blog that’s designed for easy reading and stand out messages is imperative to grabbing your reader. But like you, I can’t code for anything. No worries!

I’ve spent a lot of money on WordPress themes over my blogging career. There are plenty of pretty themes that look great with sample text and stock photos to purchase or download. But, for some reason, when I would install a theme, it never felt perfect for my images or content.

WordPress Theme Drama Llama!

I would spend hours trying to scour through the code to change out things or adjust sizing. I even purchased Genesis because I was told it was easier. But it wasn’t. That may have since changed. I didn’t want to wait around for an easier way.

Using Visual Composer To Design My Pages

I eventually purchased a theme that was using Visual Composer. VC is a plugin that allows you to do drag and drop for content boxes. Basically, you’re building your pages with it without having to code.

The problem with Visual Composer is that if I didn’t set up my theme as a child theme and I did an update, I would lose my customizations. Seriously.

Outsourcing Your Site Design

Eventually, I hired someone to code a site based on a design I created in Photoshop. I have mad design creativity, but making it work for WordPress was not my forte.

I changed my brand and hired someone off of Fiverr to customize my Genesis theme. Well, that was great until I did an update. I lost it all. The guy never set up my new theme on a child theme. I guess you truly do get what you pay for with Fiverr.

Introducing Beaver Builder To Build a Pretty WordPress Theme

It was then that my friend, Tammy, from Syd + CoCo introduced me to Beaver Builder. Holy crap. Life changer!

Now, before I start talking about BB and drag and drop options for WordPress design, I know that coders out there are losing their minds. They will tell you it’s cheating. I have been using this for over a year without a single issue. For my needs and my pocketbook, it works tremendously.

What is Beaver Builder?

Just like Visual Composer, Beaver Builder is a drag and drop WordPress page builder and Framework theme. If you can’t code, or don’t have time to learn to code, I would go this route.

“Our page builder plugin works with your existing website. Building beautiful, professional pages and is as easy as dragging and dropping.”

How Does Beaver Builder Work?

You install BB as a plugin for WordPress. I use it as a child theme, so I install the Child Theme as well. Enter your user license and you’re ready to go.

Beaver Builder offers a bunch of pre-made template designs if you’re needing a jumping off point. I tend to choose a blank template, and start dragging in rows and content sections.

For instance, if you look at my homepage, you’ll see sections that move down the page. Each is done with a new row in Beaver Builder.

  1. Drag the new row
  2. Drag a new content feature (like a subscription box)
  3. Add a background photo (you can add a color overlay so it’s not distracting)

I love how simply I can do this and make my site look super classy and clean.

Save Time, and Build Your WordPress Site in Minutes

Everything you do with Beaver Builder is what you see is what you get. You can visualize and work quickly this way.

And, the beauty is that it’s mobile and responsive ready. I don’t have to do anything extra to have my site look great on my iPhone.

Save templates that you create so you can apply them to more pages.

Create Gorgeous Landing Pages with Beaver Builder

I love that I can use Beaver Builder to create gorgeous landing pages without having to use a lead capture program that costs me more money.

This plugin is more user-friendly that Visual Composer ever was for me. And, it works with Woocommerce (my shops at Just Darlin’ Y’all and Holly Pixels) and Lifter LMS (my courses plugin for all of the programs I teach).

Use Beaver Builder with Other Themes

You can also use Beaver Builder with other themes to build your pages. So if you really love Genesis, you can use it with it to help you build your site.

I use it as a standalone theme and have never had any issues with new updates to WordPress. It’s been seamless and super easy to use. Plus, the support group is helpful, too!

Other Features of Beaver Builder

  • Photo Galleries – for photographers!
  • Call to Actions
  • Sliders and Accordions
  • Subscription integration (even ConvertKit)
  • Pricing Tables
  • Testimonials
  • Icons

If you are on one of my sites, you have seen that every single page is done with Beaver Builder! Even my course sales pages.

And, before people start complaining about the fact that it’s not coding, you can tell them to shut their pie holes. It’s more on budget and easier to be in control over your site.

What Does Beaver Builder Cost?

Pricing starts at $99 but that doesn’t include the theming portion. If you want to use Beaver Builder as a stand alone without another theme, that would cost $199. But, before you cry “EXPENSIVE” stop. You aren’t paying a coder anymore. And, it’s yours. Also, you can put that plugin on UNLIMITED WEBSITES! Yeah, so if you have multiple sites it is licensed to be used on those. I’ve paid for mine ten-fold.

Got questions? Just ask. It’s been the best decision I’ve ever made and I have saved a lot of money to make my site look amazing.

Beaver Builder looks awesome! I can’t code for nuts either and this will definitely be a major value for money investment. Thank you Holly.

You seriously just changed my life! Definitely trying this. Do you have a video on the exact difference between the $99 beaver builder versus the $199 package or can you elaborate more on that? I have one site I’m starting from scratch and another that already has a WP theme installed so I’d like to understand the difference.

https://www.wpbeaverbuilder.com/pricing/ – the difference is you can’t install the BB theme on the cheaper version which I mention in my post.

Yes..I read that but I guess what I’m asking is there anything that I’d be missing out on say if I were to get a theme from somewhere else and install BB? Or does the BB theme include extra perks that tie better to their platform? Maybe you haven’t ever gone that route but I thought I’d ask. Hope that makes sense now, thanks!

Sorry, I’ve been out of town and couldn’t get on my WordPress on my phone! No, you can use any theme. I’m just a fan of a blank theme, so I can start from scratch and use it on any of my websites.
