With a change in my niche I discovered I had to re-budget my business in a way that worked. Cutting out apps that cost me too much. That’s why I switched to MailerLite to ConvertKit. I just didn’t realize how awesome it truly was, price tag aside!
Limited Budget? MailerLite is Your Beast!
I admit it. I’m a sucker for following whatever guru is telling me is the best thing to use out there. But, I’m not a six figure guru. I have a limited budget. You need an email list and you’re just starting out on Etsy. That’s why I am going to tell you why MailerLite is your must-have email platform.
Just a note before starting, I am sharing my affiliate link with you. By promoting this platform and you purchasing through my link (if you think it rock as much as I do) I will get credit toward my subscription, but so will you ($20 to be exact)! And, honestly I only share the things that matter to me. I have shared ConvertKit with my readers before in a previous post, but I took it down the minute I discovered MailerLite. My loyalties changed. And you deserve a good email list platform, too!
Your Mailing List is Everything
I’m assuming by now that you know why you need a mailing list. But if you don’t, here’s a refresher.
- You own your email list.
- You don’t own your Etsy shop (it’s a 3rd party site).
- If Etsy shut you down, you can tell your email list where to find you.
- Your email list can help increase your sales when you need it most.
Freshen up your knowledge about setting up an email list for free and how to get people on it. The sooner the better! Not sure what to send your email list?
3 Reasons I Switched to MailerLite from ConvertKit
MailerLite is More Affordable Than ConvertKit
So the obvious is pricing. MailerLite costs much less than ConvertKit. And, if your budget limits you while you’re building your business, this is a great savings.
How much more affordable is it?
MailerLite is free up to 1000 subscribers. ConvertKit will start you at $29 a month. Jump over that and up to 5000 subscribers (hey, look at you growing) you’ll pay just $20 a month vs the $79 at ConvertKit.
I don’t know about you, but that’s kinda awesome!
I was spending so much money at ConvertKit and my open rates were dismal. I ran into a lot of issues (that they eventually were able to help me figure out and fix). Spending $79 a month with a 1% open rate for two months killed me.
My point is that if you’re just starting to get into this email list building thing, get a comparable platform for much less money. You can always switch later if you find it more beneficial to you.
MailerLite Has As Many If Not More Features than ConvertKit
Drag & Drop
One of my favorite things about MailerLite is the easy drag and drop feature to build your email campaigns. I realize that ConvertKit pushes the “simplicity” factor, but let’s be honest, adding photos and more stylized things like buttons makes me happy.
Plus, dragging and dropping those features takes the fear out of not knowing how to code your emails with your preferred font, or creating a button to click on (I know that’s a preposition, shhh).
I can also add a video to MailerLite whereas I can’t with ConvertKit. For me, making things simple, right there in the email means a better chance for someone to see my message without having to click off all of the time (except to the latest blog posts).
Automated A/B Split Testing
With MailerLite you can also do automated A/B split testing while you can’t on ConvertKit. I love this! Finding out what messages work with your audience is a must if you want to be effective in marketing your messages.
Dude. Click Maps are genius! Track what your readers are interested in, like pictures or buttons. This helps you determine what works!
MailerLite Offers Many Similarities to ConvertKit (the Important Ones)
I really loved how ConvertKit’s tagging and segmentation worked for my sales funnels and email courses. So this had to work with MailerLite.
MailerLite also offers landing pages, embed forms, pop-ups, and something Convertkit doesn’t: custom unsubscribe pages. You don’t have to go with standard response page when someone leaves your list. You can make it more appealing inviting them to stay and match your brand.
Customer Support Exceeds Expectations on MailerLite
Finally, the customer support on MailerLite blows me away! Someone responds to me within minutes, every single time. I had a lot of questions when I first switched. I was accustomed to how Convertkit worked and I wanted to understand the features in comparison.
Boom, customer support response time = mind blown. Now, ConvertKit always answered me and were very helpful, just the support response time is slower. If that bugs ya, then do what you will with that information.
I loved ConvertKit, but I didn’t love the price tag. Just like I didn’t love the price tag on LeadPages when I can do what I need with Thrive Leads. Limited budgets mean sacrifices to be made. And, when I find something I love I want to shout it to the world!
