Kappa Convention Button Collection
Kappa Kappa Gamma • 2026 Convention
A little magic worth collecting.
For Kappa Kappa Gamma’s 2026 Convention, members gathered around the event theme The Magic of Sisterhood. Working within the established Convention concept, I created a collection of 15 one-inch buttons that turned the theme into an interactive experience.
Hidden throughout the Convention venue and distributed during the event, the buttons encouraged attendees to search, trade and connect with one another as they worked to collect the entire set.
The Brief
Turning an event theme into a collectible button experience.
Kappa wanted to create a fun, interactive experience that encouraged Convention attendees to explore the venue and engage with one another throughout the event.
Using the established The Magic of Sisterhood theme as inspiration, I was asked to create a collection of 15 buttons for members to discover and collect.
The challenge was creating 15 individual designs that each felt special enough to hunt for while still working together as one cohesive collection.
15 Buttons. One Collection.
Designing a little world of Kappa magic.
With only one inch to work with, every button needed its own idea and personality.
The collection draws from Kappa symbols, traditions, Convention details and playful interpretations of the magical theme. Keys, fleur-de-lis, blue ribbons, an enchanted carriage, a little Kappa wordplay and even Owlivia all became part of the collection.
A consistent palette of Kappa blues, white and gold, along with recurring typography, illustration and magical details, ties the individual designs together while still allowing each button to feel like its own little discovery.
Find It. Trade It. Collect It.
Turning buttons into an interactive Convention experience.
The buttons weren't simply handed out as event swag. Finding them was part of the fun.
Attendees were challenged to hunt for all 15 designs throughout the Convention venue, compare their collections and trade with one another to find the buttons they were missing.
A collectible checklist gave members a way to keep track of their progress, turning the button collection into a scavenger hunt that unfolded throughout Convention and created another reason for members to connect along the way.
Tiny Buttons. Lots of Personality.
Designing for a one-inch canvas.
Working at such a small scale meant every design needed to communicate quickly while remaining readable and recognizable once produced as a button.
Some designs rely on bold typography and wordplay, while others use custom illustration, familiar Kappa symbols or visual references to the Convention theme. Varying the approach from button to button helped make finding the next design feel like discovering something new, while the shared visual language kept the entire collection connected.
Collect Them All.
What began as 15 tiny designs became an interactive part of the Convention experience, giving attendees something to search for, trade, share and ultimately take home.
A small keepsake from a much bigger celebration of sisterhood.
